ELA Adds Two Member Firms in Canada

Alberta and Quebec members round-out total Canadian coverage.

SAN FRANCISCO (Dec. 15, 2015) – The Employment Law Alliance (ELA), the world’s largest network of labour, employment and immigration lawyers, has added Loranger Marcoux and Neuman Thompson as new members, providing coverage for the Canadian provinces of Québec and Alberta, respectively. The ELA maintains a presence in all 10 provinces.

“We are very proud of our Canadian coverage and excited to add Loranger Marcoux and Neuman Thompson to our stable,” said ELA Founder and CEO Stephen J. Hirschfeld. “From the rich oil sands of Alberta to the cutting-edge aerospace and technology work of Montreal, these additions ensure countrywide coverage for clients and open up new resources for companies in these provinces faced with cross-jurisdictional concerns.”

Loranger Marcoux is based in Montreal and was founded in 1991. The 15-attorney firm represents employers exclusively across its nine practice areas, including Employment Law and Labour Relations. It is also renowned for providing timely strategic advice to upper management of both private and public organizations. Loranger Marcoux prides itself on quality, effectiveness and responsiveness and represents small and large organizations in both the public and private sectors. The firm provides comprehensive services to a wide spectrum of clients conducting business throughout Québec and works closely with firms practicing in other jurisdictions and areas of law.

“Membership in a global organization like the ELA affords us the opportunity to offer our clients a vast range of resources and a deep, on-demand knowledge base,” said Loranger Marcoux attorney and ELA representative member Marc Benoit.

Neuman Thompson is a legal services boutique of 11 attorneys founded in 1977 and based in Edmonton. The firm represents clients in Alberta and beyond through a wide range of interrelated practice areas, including employment law, traditional labour counsel, litigation and regulatory compliance. Neuman Thompson prides itself on providing an innovative, client-centric focus, which has yielded national accolades, including listing in Canadian Lawyer magazine as one of Canada’s “Top 10 Labour and Employment Boutique Firms.” Notably, it is the only firm of that group based in the Prairie Provinces.

“With a truly global economy, companies here in Alberta and across Canada need access to worldwide resources. The ELA gives us the opportunity to preserve our independence, while overnight opening ‘virtual’ outposts across the country and around the world,” said Neuman Thompson attorney and ELA representative Chantel T. Kassongo.
