Roger S. Hofer, K.C.

Professional Practice

Roger articled and practiced as a civil litigator with the City of Edmonton Law Department from 1981 through 2003. Commencing in 1988 his practice focused almost exclusively on labour and employment law and on administrative law matters. He was the Head of Litigation for the City of Edmonton Law Department from 1997 to the end of 2003, when he left public service to join Neuman Thompson. He advises and represents both public and private sector employers in labour, employment, human rights and professional regulation and discipline matters and serves a variety of clients including public post-secondary educational institutions in other administrative law matters like student discipline, human rights and privacy issues.

Teaching and Training

Roger prepares and presents papers and speaks at continuing education conferences and seminars dealing with labour, employment and human rights law topics.

Professional and Community Contributions

Roger was on the Board of the Edmonton Bar Association from 1997 to 2004 and served as President of the Association in the 2002/2003 year. He has served as a volunteer board member and fulfilled a variety of other roles in various community and sports organizations. He provides pro bono (at no fee or at reduced fees) legal services to non-profit agencies.
